Cosmetics

In recent years, the European Union has been working on a regulatory project to codify the several changes to Directive 76/768/EEC and regulate and coordinate the cosmetic sector in allMember States. Thus Regulation (EC) no. 1223/2009 has recently been published, which will be fully applicable from July 2013 and which will introduce several specifications and definitions.

In particular, there will be the single centralized notification for the whole EU, an in-market control system by the Member States and a centralized Cosmeticsvigilance, and a new procedure for a rapid update of the inventory of the cosmetic ingredients and technical details regarding the contents of the report on the safety of cosmetics.
